Kasia and Matthew’s wedding at the Heritage Club at Bethpage in Long Island, NY, was an elegant and joyous celebration filled with Polish traditions, stunning backdrops, and heartfelt moments. As a wedding photographer, one of the things I love most about my job is seeing familiar faces, and it was a delight to photograph this couple's special day, especially since I had previously photographed Matthew’s sister’s wedding. This added a layer of connection and familiarity that made the day even more special.
The day began with Kasia getting ready at The William Vale Hotel in Brooklyn. Kasia’s suite featured a balcony overlooking the NYC skyline, providing the perfect backdrop for her bridal portraits. Dressed in a white bridal robe and matching slippers, she posed elegantly beside her wedding gown, which was displayed on a mannequin. The gown's intricate lace floral design added a touch of romance to her look. Kasia’s bridesmaids, dressed in matching sage green pajamas, joined her for photos as they popped champagne and sipped mimosas, creating a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
Meanwhile, Matthew was getting ready at his home, surrounded by his groomsmen. His best man assisted with his custom cufflinks, engraved with Matthew’s initials, adding a personal touch to his attire. After some group photos with his groomsmen and parents, they all boarded a luxury bus limo and made their way to meet Kasia. Matthew surprised Kasia with an impromptu first look, and the couple also received a traditional Polish blessing from their parents, a touching moment that set the tone for the day.
On the way to St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, the couple encountered a traditional Polish "brama," a playful custom where friends and family create a fun challenge or obstacle for the bride and groom to pass before proceeding to the church. For Kasia and Matthew, the brama involved shooting hockey pucks into a net, a nod to their love for the New York Islanders, complete with friends dressed in Islanders jerseys. After some lighthearted fun and paying the toll with bottles of whiskey and vodka, the couple and their guests continued to the church.
St. Stanislaus Kostka Church was filled with guests, making for a vibrant and joyful ceremony. From the balcony, we captured the beautiful moment of Kasia walking down the aisle with her father, leading up to the couple’s heartfelt vows and their celebratory kiss, complete with fists pumped in the air. Upon exiting the church, Kasia and Matthew were greeted by their guests blowing bubbles, followed by a symbolic release of white doves. We then returned inside for formal family photos in front of the altar.
The celebrations moved to the Heritage Club at Bethpage, a stunning country club venue on Long Island. We started with bridal party photos; the bridesmaids carried white paper umbrellas, adding a chic and elegant touch that made the photos truly Vogue-worthy. While I photographed Kasia with her bridesmaids, my second photographer captured moments with Matthew and his groomsmen. As the sun began to set, we took romantic portraits of the bride and groom, bathed in the golden glow of the sunset with Kasia’s veil catching the light beautifully.
Taking advantage of the Heritage Club’s location on a golf course, we incorporated golf-themed props like clubs and a golf cart into the photos. The Rolex clock tower on the property served as another stylish backdrop, giving the couple's portraits a luxurious feel. Inside the Heritage Club at Bethpage, we captured breathtaking photos of Kasia and Matthew in the ballroom, surrounded by stunning centerpieces and candlelit decor that created an elegant and warm ambiance, perfect for a country club wedding.
The reception kicked off with the bridal party making their grand entrances, followed by Kasia and Matthew’s first dance. Later, we stepped out with the couple to take more photos in the Heritage Club's elegant hallways. A standout feature was a large mirror in the foyer adorned with white letter decals displaying the seating chart and the couple's initials, adding a personalized touch. We captured stylish photos of the couple by the mirror wall and on the green couches, evoking a luxurious, editorial vibe.
The evening concluded with the cake cutting and a sparkler send-off, as Kasia and Matthew's bridal party surrounded them with cheers and well wishes. It was a perfect end to a beautiful day at the Heritage Club at Bethpage, where every moment was filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
