My December has been absolutely packed this year with photographing surprise marriage proposals such as this beautiful ice rink proposal at Rockefeller Center.
Kolt and Jami were visiting New York City for just a few days and Kolt had planned to propose on the ice rink at Rockefeller Center. Rockefeller Center is a very popular spot to get engaged in NYC (I photographed 3 in one day here on this day!) This was the first of the three, and we started early at 8:30am – the time that the rink allows the first group of people onto the ice. I was set up and ready at the top of the balcony where it was easy for me to spot Jami and Kolt.
I focused primarily on close up shots to get Jami’s reaction since that is the most memorable photo in my opinion, but quickly switched to a second camera with a wider lens to also capture an image with the Rockefeller tree in the background.
Once Kolt and Jami got off the rink we walked around the area by Rockefeller Center and started their engagement session, finally ending their engagement session close to Radio City by the big Christmas ornaments.
