A Rockefeller Center proposal is a super popular location choice for couples getting engaged during the holiday season in New York City. As a matter of fact this was one of three surprise marriage proposals I photographed the same day at Rockefeller Center!
Jasvinder and Nikky were visiting from England for a few days and what better way to end their trip than with a beautiful proposal in front of the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree!
There are many things to consider when choosing a spot around the tree to capture the proposal as depending on the time of day and day of the week it can get very crowded. Professional photos typically come out better when I am further away and able to zoom in, however with large crowds that is too risky and I am forced to stay very close. Here you can see the crowds around 10:30pm were not as bad as the proposal at Rockefeller Center I captured just 3 hours earlier of Mike and Gina, and the Rockefeller Center proposal on the ice skating rink of Kolt and Jami early in the morning had an even more different vibe.
In the end capturing a beautiful composition is important and it is why you hire a professional photographer for your proposal, however it is really all about capturing and eternalizing that moment she says yes! The one thing I wish went a little better was Nikky’s hair falling forward and totally covering her reaction. Sometimes certain things like that are simply outside of our control
After the proposal Jasvinder and Nikky were very eager to go out to celebrate so we only grabbed a few more photos in the area around Rockefeller Center before I let them go and enjoy!
