Cara and Kurt’s summer wedding in Central Park’s Conservatory Garden in NYC was a perfect blend of elegance and cultural significance. Their day started at the stylish Kimpton Hotel Eventi on 6th Ave, where the couple prepared for the festivities. Cara’s room offered a stunning view of the Empire State Building and other iconic skyscrapers, setting a quintessentially New York backdrop for the start of her wedding day.
Cara, who is of Chinese heritage, incorporated cultural touches throughout her day. During her bridal preparation, she wore a beautiful floral silk robe with an oriental design, creating a meaningful nod to her culture. I captured her finishing touches of hair and makeup, along with candid moments involving her maid of honor and close family members who were present in the room. Before heading to the ceremony, we staged emotional first-look photos with her maid of honor and parents, capturing their heartfelt reactions as Cara revealed her wedding dress.
Kurt, assisted by his Best Woman, got ready in a separate room at the hotel. His dark grey suit with purple accents, including a tie and lavender boutonniere, added a touch of modern sophistication to the day’s look.
Once the couple was ready, we made our way to Central Park’s Conservatory Garden, where guests were gathered in the French Garden, located on the north side of the grounds. The Conservatory Garden in Central Park, known for its breathtaking landscapes and formal settings, provided a serene, romantic atmosphere. Cara, escorted by her father down the stone pathway, approached an elegant arch that framed her and Kurt during their heartfelt exchange of vows. Cheers erupted from the guests as the couple sealed their marriage, followed by formal family photos that included their two beloved dogs.
The couple’s portrait session took advantage of the beauty of Central Park’s Conservatory Garden. We photographed them by the picturesque pergola, around the striking fountain in the center, and amid the lush, vibrant summer blooms. The garden’s tranquility and natural beauty added timelessness to their photos, creating stunning memories that embodied the charm of a summer wedding in Central Park.
The celebration continued at Bamboo Garden in Brooklyn, an upscale Chinese restaurant where Cara and Kurt honored tradition with a Chinese tea ceremony. The tea ceremony, a cherished ritual, symbolizes the couple's respect and gratitude to their elders. It signifies the joining of two families and expresses appreciation for the love and support they’ve received.
The evening featured heartfelt speeches and family portraits on a beautifully decorated stage. The couple amazed their guests with an expertly choreographed first dance, showcasing their talent as ballroom dancers. For this, Cara changed into a traditional red Chinese wedding dress, adding a striking and culturally significant moment to the day.
The night concluded with a cake cutting, marking the end of a beautiful celebration. Cara and Kurt’s summer wedding at Central Park’s Conservatory Garden was a harmonious blend of cultural traditions, elegant settings, and personal touches, creating an unforgettable day.
