Tara and Michael’s destination wedding at Secrets Playa Mujeres by AMR Collection in Cancun, Mexico, was a picture-perfect celebration of love and paradise. Flying me out to photograph their day, they entrusted me to capture every moment at this beautiful resort. With a one-photographer collection, I began with Michael’s groom prep at Secrets Playa Mujeres, photographing him in his suite. Michael and his groomsmen went for a beach-inspired look with light brown pants, dark brown shoes, and white shirts with suspenders, skipping jackets for a relaxed vibe that suited the coastal elegance of Secrets Playa Mujeres. Michael’s sister, mother, and groomsmen helped him with his accessories, and we captured some fun group shots before taking Michael’s individual portraits.
I then joined Tara and her bridesmaids at her suite at Secrets Playa Mujeres. Her suite, complete with a private pool overlooking the beach, made a stunning location for getting-ready photos. Tara’s dress hung beautifully by the pool, and we staged some photos with Tara and her bridesmaids, who wore matching blue robes. Sitting poolside with mimosas, Tara and her friends shared a toast to the day ahead, adding to the joyful atmosphere at Secrets Playa Mujeres.
For their first look, Tara and Michael met in one of the resort’s lush garden areas. The grounds of Secrets Playa Mujeres provided the perfect setting for their portraits, full of vibrant tropical greenery. Following the first look, we moved on to bridal party photos with Tara’s bridesmaids in baby blue dresses and Michael’s groomsmen in their relaxed attire. We also took candid photos of the bridal party as they toasted with shots of tequila at the resort’s pool bar, a playful moment that captured the spirit of this unforgettable day at Secrets Playa Mujeres.
The ceremony took place on the beach at Secrets Playa Mujeres, under a beautiful floral arch with the ocean as a backdrop. A mariachi band added authentic Mexican flair, serenading the guests as they awaited the couple’s vows. With the sun setting over the sea, Tara and Michael’s ceremony felt like a dream. After the couple sealed their vows with a kiss, we gathered their family for formal photos on the beach.
The reception was held at an oceanfront restaurant at Secrets Playa Mujeres, just steps from the beach where the ceremony took place. Tara and Michael shared their first dance under the stars, followed by cake cutting and an evening full of laughter and joy. Their guests lined up with sparklers in hand for a magical exit, forming an archway that Tara and Michael ran under for a breathtaking finale photo at Secrets Playa Mujeres.
